Easter in Siena
Hoppy Easter!
A 14th-century monastery, spring in the Tuscan countryside, a long lunch, and absolutely no rush.
Just 2 km from Piazza del Campo — though it feels wonderfully further away — La Certosa di Maggiano is the kind of place where Easter naturally stretches into the afternoon.
Ancient cloisters, wisteria beginning to bloom, sunlight on old stone, and a table set for the occasion: Easter lunch here is less about ceremony, more about pleasure.
Expect seasonal dishes rooted in Tuscan tradition, generous flavours, and that irresistible temptation to order another glass simply because there is nowhere else you need to be.
Lunch unfolds between history and countryside, in a place where monks once lived and where today the only serious devotion required is to good food, good company, and a little extra dessert.
Because Easter should feel special — but never stiff.
